Basil's has been the topic of many conversations with my grandmother, who adores both their food and atmosphere.  She is quite a gourmet cook, so when she likes a restaurant, you know it's superb.

I was in town for a visit, and finally experienced this amazing restaurant for myself.

I had the lamb shank, and it was prepared and served to absolute perfection.  The wine we selected Wes extremely good, and desserts were heaven.

After 5 glasses of wine between the two of us, and after eating ourselves to completely full, the bill was under $80!!!

Trendy, classy decor, wonderful food, extremely fair prices... This place is a huge win!!!

Classic French restaurant located in a small shopping center, it has the most challenging parking lot in the the city of Katy.  Needless to said the parking is restricted, but it is totally worth it. The ambient is very nice and clean.  Lots of open spaces, and the service is great.

My lamb chop was lay on top of sweet potatoes and mushrooms and mix vegetable.  The sauce was plain good that is all I have to said about it.  The chop was cook medium rare and perfect to my taste.  The dessert was divine and delicious, I though I was in heaven when I finish it.

Overall Basil is a little gem in Katy, sleepy little restaurant holds a big punch.  It can hold up with any of the five stars restaurant.  The food is simply delicious and the service was really good. Definitely worth fighting that parking.

We love the ambiance. Menu & attention to detail. The restaurant is beautiful. It is quiet. It has wonderful food. The seafood dishes are wonderful. They offer several : Trout, Salmon, Sole. All dishes are fabulous. Someone please in our party had the lamb. It was enjoyed. The chicken dishes & beef dishes are unique & savory. They do have some outdoor seating. Tonight a couple walked there to sit outside in the cool of the evening. They do have a lunch menu.

Somehow, this spot had escaped our notice. It's sort of of like that in the land of strip centers that is Katy. Basil's is tucked away in the corner and very easy to miss.

During our first visit, we paused at the door to read the menu. A regular customer came
In just behind us and whispered "the food here is f'ing amazing."  We took his advice.

It's a quaint, charming spot. Some here have called it French. Others, Italian. I would say it's eclectic and European. There are things on the menu that throw back to the 60s and 70s. The menu is not complicated. The food is excellent and if you want to tweak a dish, just say so. Everything is cooked to order.

The dining room is small and a throwback as well. To me, it feels welcoming and warm. This is really great when everything else out in Katy is a squeaky clean boring chain. It's the kind of place we will return to often. It's "come as you are", relax, enjoy a good meal and feel welcome.

Finally, there is a small patio and they welcomed our dog!

We just had a really nice meal here!  Do not understand why the place was empty on a Friday night but we enjoyed the quiet!
We had escargot, baked brie, the pork schnitzel special and a chicken dish stuffed with spinach and goat cheese finished in a vodka tomato sauce.  You can tell the chef is French trained based on the menu and the quality of the sauces.  Yummy!
Give the food a try, you won't be disappointed!
